New WEEE directive 2012/19/EU has to be implemented in national law until February 2014

The member states have to implement the legal and administrative provisions of the WEEE directive until February 14th, 2014.

The amended directive 2012/19/EU on used electrical and electronic devices (WEEE directive; Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) of the European Parliament and the council was published on Tuesday July 24th, 2012 in the official journal of the European Union. 20 days after the publication the directive is coming into force. 18 months after taking effect the new WEEE directive has to be implemented in national law. Thus, the member states have to implement the legal and administrative provisions which are required to observe the EU requirements until February 14th, 2014.
