The Öko-Institut, collaborating with project partners and commissioned by the Umweltbundesamt (German Federal Environmental Agency – UBA), has developed a method for measuring product reuse in Germany. For the first time, data was gathered specifically for reporting purposes. In a follow-up project building on this, the method will be used again to enable reporting for the year 2024. In addition, the project team is once again developing practical recommendations for the future implementation of reporting requirements. Both quantitative and qualitative data on reuse in private households, private initiatives, companies, public institutions, and networks will be collected.
The Öko-Institut is well-established in its field of research. Consequently, the topic of battery deposits has caught the attention of VERE e.V., which has consistently opposed a battery deposit system (see, for example, VERE_Weihnachtskurier_2019) and continues to closely monitor developments.
VERE e.V. is in contact with the relevant stakeholders and keeps its members informed about further developments via the “VERE Insider”.
